Can I eat nori / seaweed sheets after the best before date?

Hi there, I’d like to know whether I can eat nori / seaweed sheets after the best before date. Since the sheets are sold in dry condition I have the idea they cannot go bad. Since I found some seaweed in the corner of the kitchen cabinet, which was still wrapped but the the best before was like summer 2007. Does it harm my health if I ate it anyway? Does anyone know for sure?

Well, I’d exercise caution if I were you… Summer 2007 was almost exactly one year ago. That’s a pretty long time. Just this afternoon I had some leftovers from yesterday’s dinner for lunch, but I forgot to put it in the fridge so it went bad… I didn’t feel anything, but I’m not about to risk my life with something one year past its best before date.

Look out for these warning indicators:

1. TEXTURE. When you unwrap the nori, is it soft? You may not wanna risk it if it is.

2. SMELL. You’re probably not going to get much of this, but if you do, it definitely means that it’s gone bad.

3. TASTE. Need I say more?

Good luck. If you eat anyway, don’t eat a lot at once.
